basically pro sound

hey goodwin,
Listening to 'letter' and it sounds like a pro recording for the most part, but it sounds a bit distorted at times 2:57 etc.. like maybe it was too normalized or something. It's not the mp3 conversion because its at 192 so thats not it. Thats the main problem IMOP.

Listening to 'Airport' now and the problem is not there as bad....maybe a little though. These recordings sound pro IMOP, but something bad may be happening at mixdown...

Please take my comments as coming from someone who's recordings dont sound as good as this..

pro for the most part is what I would call this... "Airport' was a good tune too..

Good tunes man.I downloaded "Airport" over on the VF-16 board awhile back.Really good pop tune. Are you still using the VF16?

Matt's Letter -- awesome guitar, but the stops get a bit annoying after a while. Really nice vocals! The tune is a bit long, I think. It seems like the type of song that would work best under 4 mins. The chorus is especially catchy and gets lost under too many other sections. GREAT ending!

Airport -- the composition is MUCH tighter here. A very catchy tune. Again, great vocals. The synth thing doesn't seem to fit.

Glance -- I love live recordings. Sign of a good band is what they do live. The tune isn't as strong as the others -- the chorus seems to be lacking something. Not sure what.

Great work and thanks for sharing!

I listened to Matt's Letter and Airport.

Matt's Letter - Limited beyond the point of distortion - esp the kick, hat and snare. Nice vox and guitars. I'll just echo the previous posts about the song - sounds disjointed and could flow a little better. The chorus is catchy and I like the ending too.

Airport - Sounds much more polished. Drums are punchy but not squashed sounding or distorted. I like the guitar sounds on the other song better - more edgy. The cymbals are much more lush and less harsh. The vocal sits nice in the mix.

Nice job.

Listened to 'Letter'.

I can only echo the other opinions. Gorgeous sound on the guitars - buttuh, pure buttuh. Nice vocals too.

The stops would be good if they were used in ONE spot. But because they're all the way through the song they get tedious.

Thanks for your feedback

Thanks so much for everyones feedback. I the mix for matt's letter is pretty rough. The stops are very tedious and the length of the tune is now at question. Live these issues don't come up but sitting and listening the to the song is quite a different thing.

Airport is much more polished. I have an outside person actually mix this song for us. I sent them the raw tracks I recorded on my VF-16 via a CD. The final mix was then done on a VS2480.
I will be sending Matt's Letter to him to remix as well.

Everyone's feedback has been honest and constructive. I am very impressed with this forum.

Best Regards,
Daniel

'Letter' sounds great, but that song 'Airport' really needs to be remixed!:D:D:D

Get that song in the mail!
