This is my latest tune, it features me on every instrument and vocals too! The song's title is Goodbye Tonight, and is about someone who realises, maybe a bit too late that he doesn't want to say goodbye to someone!

Goodbye Tonight

Looking forward to hearing from all of you!

Thanks in advance

loud high pitched beeeeeeeeep thing going on...feels likeI have the tv on in the room, that kind of noise. ha.

also, clicks and pops randomly - don't know if that's just the mp3 though.

track itself is tite.

The long beep is part of the song! However the crackle is due to the fact that I have no quality gear, I tried removing them but couldn't! Anyone got any tips?

What do you use for recording? I used to fight super cheap setups, but always found ways to reduce the noise, so there's probably a way to reduce it in the first place...
as far as the song you've already recorded, i recommend goldwave, it's free and there's a few good noise filters that usually work well for me that you could give a try... here's a link to what I posted in another thread... just disregard the Hydrogen jokes. ;)

This is the new mix of Goodbye Tonight. Basically, what I did was clean all the clicks and crackle, applied more reverb to the main vox (thought it lacked some ambience), panned the b/g vocals a bit wider and tried to give some treatment to the drums,in order to soften the kick and snare because they're far too loud!

Fact is, that regarding the drums I admit I couldn't acomplish what I intended, and hope you can give me some guidance on this?

Download Version 2: Goodbye Tonight

Looking forward for your input on this new version!

The crackling is really pissing me off. The strings sound is more believable when it's not solo - can you use malleted cymbals to wash into the next part?

Good song, and nice harmonies as well. Yeah, the crackling just has to stop.

Make sure you download version 2. You're the first to notice that the cello is actually a soundfont! You'll have to tell me what malleted cymbals are first? Glad you liked the song!

Looking forward to hear from more of you!

I feel that the vocal sound could have better clarity. Try a hi-pass filter that gets rid of anything below 200Hz or so. Also boost its upper mid frequencies. Also, its only a tiny little thing, but did you use a pop-filter? There are a couple of places very early on where some `plosive' sounds can be heard.

Nice song, but yeah, you gotta try and get rid of that clicking.

Just listening to version 2. Ah, the vocals are a little clearer and thank god that clicking has gone. Still think the vox needs more clarity though. Not sure I dig the `pseudo-organ' sound that comes in around 2:10, but like the electric guitar that builds up, but need to be more of it - a little thicker perhaps. Perhaps play single heavy `crunch-type' guitar chords, double up different tones and chord inversions, to get a really thick and wide electric guitar line, to thicken that bit.

Comes down a bit abruptly at 3:04. The transition could be a little smoother.

All in all, not bad work though.
Keep it up mate! :-)
