so I got this mic a year ago knowing nothing about mics. this was my first condenser. I don't particularly hate anything about it but the internet consensus seems to be that this mic is horrible. aside from that, I also just want to try out other mics anyway. so which mic in the same price range will show me what all of you internet people claim as giant flaws in the c3000b?

Question

What are you using it for? Acoustic guitar? Vocals?
The AT 4040 that I used was a real sweet mic for acoutic stringed instruments (I used one on a sarood) I borrowed it from a buddy for a live session and now I want to get one.
Let us know what you're using it for.

i want to use it for pretty much anything. I do a lot of concrete type stuff, so I always used the akg for all of that since it picks up really quiet things. and also vocals and maybe hihats

I've been thinking of getting a tube LDC. any pros and cons? suggestions?

CAD M9 is good for the price, IMHO. It's a hybrid design, using the tube for gain and a FET for the output balancing, IIRC (and maybe some gain). Clean sound, but smooth....
