Mixing and Mastering.
I recorded this song on my BR1180 and think it is not bad considering.

The drums were recorded using two cheap mics, one in the bass drum and the other near the snare and toms. I like the snare sound. It was recorded in my mates bedroom!
The guitars were recorded straight into the Br1180 using onboard effects, like amp modeller and pan delay. The pan is a bit much though at times.
The vocals were recorded using a cheap mic and compressed etc.
The recording isnt the best, but i think the mix is good apart from a few obvious mistakes with extra parts.
The song isnt finished as the middle part is very bare. Might try a different part altogether for the middle.
Any comments on songwriting, recording, and mixing would be appreciated greatly.

the panning definitely is a little too much. try slowing it down to an eighth note rhythm...i think you'll get better results with that. drums seem to pretty far in the distance as well and could use some more EQing time spent on them...especially the snare. Bring out the lows in the bass more too. I like the guitar switch at around 1:20. I would also like to hear more vocals and more of them in the center....too far right I think. Too much dead silence at the end too. Keep up the good work.

Wow, with my iso phones on, my head started throbbing with that intro....messed with my equilibrium..hehe

definitely need to get the drums in the same mix space as the rest of the song.

decent tones on your instruments. just needs some mixing tweaks..

carry on!

yeah,

chill out with that whole 'autopan' thing in the beginning...it felt like I was drininking a fifth :P

good song though, you kind of sing like that guy from the Tragically Hip.

are all of your instruments in tune?

like everyone else: pan = dont do it like that. haha.

drums = way far in the back. kick and snare are hardley auidble at times, and i like to FEEL them. tite riffs/song, etc.

Cheers for feedback all. I didnt expect much great comments on the recording, its just that how i recorded it with the bad equipent that i thought it was not bad. Cheers though.
Yeah my piano is not in tune with 440Hz for some reason its like half a semi tone out, so i had to detune my guitar and bass and the string probably slipped while playing.
