i recentaly purchased a nady condenser mic for 80 bucks (kinda harsh sounding) and a studio projects c-1 for 230 bucks (sounds real good...worth the price difference and then some) a sure 57 is real good...and a sure 58 is good too (could get both of them for around 200 bucks for the pair)
You can run over to your local Guitar Center and get an Octava MC319 for around $150. Although it is not a "great" mic, it is worth the money. I have used them for close micing amps, vocals, overheads, etc. and the recordings sound good.
I have 2 of them that I bought when I didn't have money to spend and I still use them today.
I also have a pair of C3s and a C1 which I prefer.
