hey,
here's my dilemma. i got cakewalk, got it all set up, even bought more ram just to be safe. i've got sound from my 4 track coming into the computer. (just wanted to remix some stuff to digital that's all!!) the signal records using the windows sound recorder, but doesn't move the cakewalk inputs a bit. i've got the inputs set to the l/r of my soundcard.

so, i figure, well i'll download protoolsFREE and try that instead. same problem. configurations are right, volumes are all up, nothing doing on the meters/anything in either program.

could someone please please please give me a hand??

Have you made sure the line-in input from your soundcard is selected as the recording source in the Windows mixer? I can't verify this procedure right now because I'm at work and I don't have administrative priveleges, but assuming you're using Windows, go to the control panel, open the sounds applet, open the audio tab, and mess with the 'advanced' button on the recording section.
