Hi:
I'm trying to find a better way of recording my electric guitar. I've tried the POD, the V-Amp, a Trademark 10, etc. All in all, I can't get a good distorted sound with direct recording - always sounds buzzy and annoying.
Anyway, I've just purchased a Mesa/Boogie Studio preamp. It's on its way from an ebay seller. I'm going to work on getting a good DI sound, but I just don't think it's possible with anything (in my eyes, anyway). So, I'd like to ask advice on a good power amp and cabinet. I don't want or need something that's going to blow the doors off. I jam with my band in my garage and maybe parties, etc., so I need enough to get up and over the drums and bass. I'm really interested in a power amp/cab combo that would sound great miked. I MUST limit the budget to $500 or perhaps under. I am not against shoppping ebay for good used stuff. I've heard a MB 20/20 is good, but maybe too pricey and maybe "too Mesa". I've also heard the Peavey Classic 50/50 is good and quite versatile sound-wise. As for a cabinet, I clearly don't need 4 12" inch speakers as much as I need really good sound.
O yeah, I also have a Rocktron Replifex for effects. All input GLADLY accepted!!! Thanks in advance.
