Good all 'round effects unit for bass?

The only things I have so far is an Electro-Harmonix
BassBalls and a Bass Synthesizer. What would be
a damn good all 'round effects unit? Thanks in advance!

I use a Zoom BFX-708 which is quite a nice all rounder. You can edit all the parameters on the patches for custom effects and it has some limited amp modelling. One of the best things about it is the expression pedal which can be set to control different parameters (volume, distortion etc etc) to give you a bit more control. Top that off with a built in tuner and its a fairly comprehensive unit. My only complaint is that it can be a little bit noisy if you have it on certain settings but as long as you are careful it seems to work pretty well. Incidentally it has a couple of Wah patches built in and so with the pedal to give you proper wah control may satisfy your Wah needs as well.

OneLouder,

It's hard to describe- I almost want to say that it's
somewhere in between a phase shifter and a bass
expander. I got the unit used with no documentation
and liked what it does for the sound. If you get the
opportunity to try one out, definitely do so. It is one
really neat effect for bass.

But I disagree with the factory literature describing
how one can attain an almost "vocal" or "human
speech" effect with it.

Cheers!
