Haven't worked out how to sing this one yet, & I'm having issues with the bass, so any tips from you good folk would be great...

I tweaked the bass with a gentle curve from 2 to 4 Khz but with a serious peak at 3KHz. That gave it more definition.
I really like this one esp the vocal - sound very cultured Aussie in accent - hope that's not an insult where ever you are.
A really interesting song. the guitars & some of the arrangements remind me of the early Hunters & Collectors. Around the Talking to a Stranger era. Muscular bass & guitar.
Cool bananas.

Cultered Aussie eh? OK that's it. Step outside...haha no, close though. I'm next door in NZ. I used to listen to H&C all the time in my Valiant. I always loved their sound..Talking to a Stranger, Human Frailty are great albums. That's interesting you mentioning them.
Hey good tip on the bass man, thanks I'll go try that. Cheers rayc

Cool one man...No real nits from my end...pretty cool sounds. Nice job on the vocals man...they sit well, and the lyrics are great. (I couldn't do 20 push-ups, let alone one armed...).. The intro guitar sounds are killer...very good tone. All I could say about the bass is to bring it up a bit. But I like the tune as is.

(And I'm still working on Pedaltime...hopefully have something to let you hear in a day or so... ;) )

Hello from this side of the Tasman Sea.
Kiwi - that explains the cultured part eh?
My fav H&C is a 7" I have of Talking To A Stranger - it has 2 very different but really cool mixes on it.
Post any changes you do please.

Bulls Hit...I love the axe and drum intro on this..

You have some heavy guitar tones on this.

The bass seems to meld right into everything else...almost too much, but not quite. I like the way it does that.

Drums on this got me moving...ba ba ba...bum ba ba bum ba...ba ba ba..bum ba ba ba bum...or whatever !! :D

Lead solo axes at 2:34 have that killer tone.

Are you replacing the talking lyrics with singing eventually?

You are a kiwi? :D

Very cool. I like the talking lyrics.

The drums are very nicely driving in the background. The bass is kinda very U2 in places. Which is cool.

The guitar playing is really cool. I would like the song very much even if you didn't sing it and left it at talking lyrics. Very eclectic in that regard. :)

cool tune man, kinda Zappaish.

very cool guitars, bring the bass up a tad, maybe some boosting around 1k-2k will give it more prescence.
You might do some cuttin at 200 :)

Anyway I like the tune man, very cool drums as well.

the drums sound really good...was it a real room or a plug-in? I'm going to guess room, but I could be wrong.

either way, I love the room you put the drums in...It sounds very big..

I think the bass needs some compression, and needs to come up quite a bit..

the guitars seem unfocused, and are a bit hot in the mix...

other than that, I dig the tune...not really my cup o' tea, but nevertheless very good.

Dogman - Dude. Heh I'm a real beginner at this vocal thing. Getting them to sit well is the trick. Thanks for the kind words from a voxmeister such as yourself. Not sure about the bass. If I lift it, things start getting cloudy real quick. Man, pedaltime, excellent :D .. I'm looking forward to hearing what you've got. Cheers Ed

rayc - Yeah Kiwi mate. We know all about culture. I tried a boost at around 3-4K on the bass. Didn't seem to hurt so I left it there. Also changed the ending, so that version's up. You've got me thinking about H&C now. I'm digging out my old tapes. They had a bloody good sound. Thanks for the memories :D

true-eurt - You play the drums right? Your ba ba bums have excellent timing :D And feel! lol..No I don't think the vox will get changed much now. I still haven't worked out the vocal melody. Unless you're offering? Get down to your local, shoot a few games of pool, get in the mood to belt one out..heh. Well it could happen..yes true, I live in Kiwiland, but born in Dublin. Hey thanks for listening

bigbubba - U2 eh? wow, I cant really play bass, so that Is cool. Yeah I think if I try and sing it now, I'll just mess it up, so it's pretty well done. Thanks for checking it out man.

Nakatira - Good call on the 200 cut. I put it on the master and it is better. Thanks for that. I'll try that range you suggested in the bass too. Cheers man

blueroommusic - Heh yeah it is a room. Not that big, 12'x7'. Drums at one end, PC at the other and enough room for the amp in the middle. I'm struggling with the bass definition. It's already compressed beyond bejesus, you can hear the string squeak. Not sure what you mean by unfocused, but yeah I've just noticed one of the intro guitars is way too hot. Thanks man, well spotted old boy

This is a cool song.

The drums have a herky-jerky feel to them that is a little disconcerting. Good drum sounds and energy.

Great lyrics, man. This is a fun song to listen to. I like your voice.

:D :D :D No, I am not a drummer, just a Dennis the Menace of music...can't keep my friggin' hands off of anything that makes cacophony!!! :D

I think the drums are the star of this song and all the other good sounds are the frame, showing the star off.

Are you the drummer Bulls Hit?

I enjoyed my listen...and the next and the next and....

You have a nice voice. I thought you sang, in one of the songs you and Dog colabbed on. If you are serious, then send me the lyrics...the pool hall is only a couple of blocks away.... :D

An Irish kiwi...what a delightful combination !! :)

bigbubba said pretty much what I was thinking .....+1

Excellent Mr B........

Supercreep - Thanks for the comments man. Yeah herky jerky is about right. The drums through the verses are a loop cut through the hihat so it gets choked off..appreciate the words..thanks

true-eurt - Heh you want to give it a shot? That's great! OK here's the words

Gone for good you won't come back
I feel sick it's a heart attack
Claustrophia is my new friend
The working day it never ends

Spin the world around
Bounce it on the bed
20 1-arm pushups
You can do them on your head
You've done all this before
It's happened so many times
A georgous living train wreck
Up and down the line
You've got your own agenda
Your keeping all the scores
You set the rules, you're in charge
Dishing out the blows

You've got your own agenda
Your keeping all the scores
You set the rules, you're in charge
Dishing out the blows
You've done all this before
It's happened so many times
A georgous living train wreck

I'm looking forward to hearing what you do with this.
Delightful? I prefer words like rugged, virile..but delightful's cool too :D

ido1957 - Thanks for giving it the spin ido

what I would like to here in this song is for the spoken vocals to then take off into the screeching metal vox you here in most metal songs I think that would then take the song onto another level..sound all round sounded fine to me..

TartanRascals - Heh you could be on to something there. Let's see what true comes up with. Another level yeah I like the sound of that. Thanks man

Very cool man. Drums sound great. Guitar riffs have a hard edge to them that i like. Song almost reminds me of clutch a bit (thats not an insult btw heh). Vocals are cool I like the spoken word style. Lyrics are cool. Nice song man.

take care

gary

Hey Bullshit.... I tried not to do that...it just didn't work out!!! :D :D :D

I may not be able to pull it off, but yes, I still want to try. I have a couple of rugged ideas floating around in my bwain, and one of those ideas, involves keeping your virile vox in. This should be fun!!! A challenge yah...but fun!!

Would you mind sending me a take without the vox on it?
