Does Goldwave (again ... free version) handle 24bit/48khz? I see that you can save as a 24bit file, but will it import a 24bit file? The wav sounds ok ... but I've been known to screw that stuff up before.

Basically I'm recording drum samples in ProTools (uhhh free) and then cutting them up in Goldwave. I want to stay 24/48 and since Sound Forge sucks and won't support it (ok, no flames please, I like SF, just not the bit depth limitation), I downloaded Goldwave instead.
Maybe I'll just record in Goldwave to start with ... that seems like a no-brainer. I just don't see where you can set the bit depth in it ... I just downloaded it last night so maybe I just need to look harder.

Also, do I usually tend to ask a question and then answer it right away ... how freakin annoying! :D

Im pretty sure you cant do 24 bit...i see where you can change the sampling rate up to 96,000 hz, i didnt even think it went that far....cant u edit in ProTools....I downloaded because i need a 24 bit editor (cheap) but I havent had a chance to play with it yet.....

hmmm , perhaps you can, Gidge ... I'm a newbie to both programs so I don't really know yet. If I find out, I'll let you know.
Thanks

No problem BigK, Goldwave is my "editor" of choice for fade in's and fade out's when mastering. It handles and retains the 24 bit file depth just fine. Plus, it is easy to use....:)

Ill be damned if it didnt work....so why the hell dont they tell u this.....ED, thanks a million.....

BK, btw, Ed is right about it being easy to work with...I used it for about a year but gave up on it after I got a 24/96 card...I just assumed....Im so fricking stupid, I just shoulda tried....

Cant wait to hear those drum samples.....
