Gold Plated Hardware Question

Hello

Im not a fan of gold hardware and am thinking about taking it off of my Epi Custom LP. I have a polishing wheel, will I hurt anything by stripping the plating off? and then polishing it?

Its stainless steel parts right?

I wouldn't mess with it. It's almost certainly not stainless, as that has to be machined and most of the enclosed tuners are cast. Depending on the brand, it's likely a nickle alloy, brass, or a generic pot metal. All of these are intended to have a protective coating on them - like plating. It would be way easier to change the tuners.

No need to strip them. Time and normal usage will remove the gold plating.
