One reason I stopped hanging out at garageband.com was because the high frequency of very low-level reviews was offputting.

Somebody in the Cave talked about this place, however:

Based on my single experience, I think it's a good place for intelligent reviews of online music. It took about a month for my tune to get reviewed, and the review was balanced and interesting to read, which is everything you want from a review. I think the reviewer wasn't discriminating enough when it came to the 'recording quality' category, but that's what I've got you guys for, right? :D I've emailed the reviewer to see what that turns up...

I think godsofmusic is a really good facility. I wish it was linked to here and nowhere.

your judgement of these things is accepted readily by me dude. I`ll check it out, might get to hear some new tunes and learn something. I`m not trying to market my stuff tho.

I discovered GOM several months ago, and have since had a few reviews. It's completely free and seems like a good place to get some exposure and preview others' music. It is nice also to have some documented reviews for advertizing blurbs and such web for sites.

That's one advantage, yeah.

Two other advantages I see, which are even more important to me:

1 A review from a person who cares about music but isn't a recordist. The person who did my review talked about a different sound I got using my mics, but actually it was just a bit of unintentional phasing. I get expert recording listeners here in the clinic, but you get good non-recording listeners at GOM. They focus on the song rather than the sound of the song, in other words. That's useful.

2 I like the existence of a site that makes it easy for people who want to find good non-music biz music online. I think this is really important to the success of music that's being made and recorded outside the music business. My only question about Gods of Music at this point is: how many people are actually going to that site to find interesting music to listen to? You know, if I want to check out a book online, I go to Amazon - they've got a nice search facility and useful reviews. But I want to know how many general users know about Gods of Music.
