What is the mic set up? I got a reference by some other guy on HR, so I googled it, and saw at least 4 different methods claiming to be the "Glynn Johns" method. Can someone explain what it is?
This is the definitive Glyn Johns miking technique. And I'll tickle the man that says it isn't so !![]()
If you pan them hard right and hard left you'll probably end up with the snare somewhere off to the right.
How would that happen if you placed the mics equal distance from the snare like you're supposed to? I pan both tracks hard and my snare's right in the middle.
Hehe...Nah, don't ignore anyone. experiment for yourself. You might find yourself getting the same results as Aaron.Hmm maybe I'm just doing something wrong. A guy I was learning from did this and his snare always sounded centered.
I don't know, just do what rami says and ignore me![]()
I also pan for audience perspective (i.e. high hats to the right, floor tom to the left)
