I'll give it to you straight.... This is good stuff. You should have no doubt in your abilities. Very soulful and I enjoyed listening.

Your tunes are enjoyable to listen to, and decent home recordings...that's all that matters. No song is going to be everyones cup of tea, but you gotta do this homerecording stuff for fun, right? I usually find some enjoyment in just about everything I listen to here, and yours is no different...some good riffs in your tunes, and fun stuff to just listen to. Keep on having fun....something may click with other musicians, and it may not.

thanks for your comments Dog and Rami.

Dog you're right, i do this primarily for my own fulfillment and joy. there's nothing quite like being creative and writing your own tunes. it would just be nice to have people to play them with. :)

Rami, i have to spread the love around, but i'll remember you :)

do i suck at music?

i've been trying for two years to get people to jam with write with, play in a band with and generally just make music with. i get lot's of bites, people who say they like my stuff and wanna work with me, but then they disappear. if it just happened once or twice it wouldn't bother me, but it happens all the fucking time. i'm starting to lose faith in my abilities. i know i'm no shredder but have a listen to "missing you" (that's probably my best guitar work,) and maybe "dance" for my writing ability, and tell me honestly if i suck.

No, you don't suck. I like your staccato notes that you throw in. Bands are tough. It is real hard to find people that you are compatible with. Just keep trying.

Nicole,

You should know by now what my opinion is of your playing abilities and talent.

Don't ever sell yourself short or lose confidence within yourself.

You're my favorite lesbian rock guitar player. ;)

thank you anselm, icy storm and especially you randy :) i really appreciate the listen and the comments. :)

Maybe if it were Narnia instead of Sarnia people'd come out of the cupboard.
.

hmm, I can't listen cause of work blocking soundclick, but I am(born and raised) from a place called Sarnia Ontario in Canada, so I just found this amusing. Is this where Nicole Rose is from. If so, my condolences. I moved.

Take some pleasure and pride in what you can do instead of focusing what you can't do. There's a great many more things I can't do than things I can.

Explore the things you do well. Jamming with other people is great, but writing and recording good music is great too. Trust your judgment.

Nicole, been meaning to post in your thread. Heard some of your songs, and got lazy before posting. :) Well, you can definitely play guitar and sing for sure. From the picture it appears you have a drum kit. Not sure if you do real drums or not, but that's what people tell me sounds like soul-less part of most of the tracks I do. :)

You got good songs and good music. :) I'll swing by one day and post in yer thread also. :) No, don't give up.

thanks for taking the time to listen and be encouraging guys :) supercreep, i think that's some pretty good advice, i'll try to take it to heart :)

Hey NicoleRose.....I can hear your under-confidence in your playing. You have some good ideas musically but where you fall short is in the execution of your ideas. It is making your timing a bit erratic. One way to overcome this is to practice scales and arpeggios with a metronome or electronic drummer. Go for precision and start slow. Gradually increase speed as you gain control. Control is everything. Without it you can't achieve any degree of EXPRESSION in your playing. As you progress and gain control you will hear an increase in the power of your recordings. Stay with it because I can hear that you have a lot of potential, you just need to gain skill and touch with the tools of the trade.

Listened to both Dance and Missing You. Dance didn't do much for me, but Missing You was pretty nice. Has a kind of Santana vibe going. You should put some words and melody to it. It's not at all bad as an instrumental, but I think it would be even better with some lyrics and vocal.

you don't suck!!

i think it good stuff. i think your sister sounds a little like Bonnie Rait....
