Wish I never went to that page though, it just reminded me of something that pisses me off. Here's a bit of the history if you're interested.

There's a track on that site from Posterboy aka Shaheed. That is the cat I went up against on the Queen Latifah show in '99. At the time he could have easily been mistaken for Mase in regard to his topic and flow.

He won the competition, but for a bullshit reason. Tom Silverman (Tommy Boy CEO) talked for like 5 minutes comparing the two of us and said his decision boiled down to the fact that I came with a Southern style, which was a bad idea considering the show was taped in Brooklyn. He even said that dude sounded like Mase.

Well it wasn't my choice. The producers told me I had to do Unorthodox. I had a bunch of new shit, mostly with an East Coast vibe, but they wanted the speed like in Unorthodox. Talking to Shaheed backstage I found out that he choose his own track. So he had home court advantage (he's from Harlem), choice of tracks and got to go last.

Even worse, was when the show aired. They completely cut out everything Silverman said and just left the part where he said the scores. I told mad amounts of people to watch the show and catch what Silverman said, because he did say some positive shit too. I felt pretty stupid when all that aired was, "Stray 8, Shaheed 9".

Still pisses me off today, it almost seems like a set up cause I know Harlem High (his management company) had close ties with the producers of that show.

I got this track as part of the Acapella Exchange. It was supposed to be an acapella and I was almost pissed at first, but this shit was just way too funny.

Peep the country version Abyyss posted, it's even funnier. Wonder what Snoop would think about these versions.

Damn Abyyss, you're quick. And no I had nothing to do with the Gin and Juice version I posted. I just thought it was funny.

More history if you're still interested:

It gets worse. The Unorthodox EP was a solo release, but I've always been part of The Foundation. Latifah was the only place I ever performed alone on stage. Mysteek was my hype man for the rest of the shows I did for that album.

I did the EP because Mysteek was busy with college and I wanted to light the fire under his ass. Well it worked and dude was ready to work on a new album. That was early 2000.

We did some shows right after that and put together a few songs. Then my main keyboard broke and everything was on hold for about 8 months. Then I spent a few grand on new equipment and rented out the studio.

Immediately after that "This Is Life" was recorded. Then we did "All Love". Then shitted just stopped.

A year later (about 3 months ago) dude called and said he really missed doing shows and recording and said he had a bunch of shit he was working on. I, being the way I am, produced a bunch of tracks, wrote a bunch of hooks and started talking to some of my connections about club dates. I even got a few shows scheduled for us.

Today, haven't heard from Mysteek since. Now I got all these tracks with Foundation samples in them that have to be redone. I've been working on group material for all this time when I could have been doing solo shit. Makes a cat real bitter. I'm back to where I was at the beginning of 2000.

This is a difficult business, very difficult. I have thick skin, I can handle rejection, but this type of shit is hard to deal with. Weaker spirits in my predicament would probably be on a bridge or high ledge somewhere.

Unfortunately, I have no back up plan, didn't even finish high school. I have my business (medical transcription) that puts food on the table, but that's about it. In other words, music has to work for me. I have no ambition to be a "superstar" but a name in the game is where I want/need to be.

Like I said in Lazi's post, I'm not going to rely on someone else anymore. Just doing remixes, solo work and net collabos.
