Just seen this on the net.
Has anyone purchased it or tryed it out or heard anything other that the Gibson ad for it?

That's been out for at least a year. In that time I haven't seen a single real world example of it.

But man ..... a Le Paul without that will last forever.
But lets fill it full of circuitry and wires running thru the neck and solenoids ........ LOTS of stuff to break.
I'd be surprised it it stood up to 10 years of hard playing without problems.

So very true Lt.
how much are they going for, compaired to just a paul?

seems like they were maybe $8000 or so but I may have that wrong.
I did a quick search and saw that some models have already been discontinued.

I've seen some on craigslist for about $400. Don't think it's necessary myself...

Really? $400!

Holy crap.

ya' know ....... IF I had a lot of money AND used a lot of alternate tunings I could see it but I don't, I don't and I don't.

Been discussed here several times.

I have a bet with many here that it won't be around in ten years. I'm about to collect on those bets..;)

some company (maybe Yamaha?) came out with a self tuning piano. It won't make it either for the same reasons. Needless complexity ..... expensive ...... gonna break down because of that complexity etc etc.

I'm pretty sure that in ten years robots will have taken over the world and it's you that won't be around.

anyone click on the link to the "Dusk Tiger" .... Gibsons' new robot git?

Why do they think that a new git has to be so very ugly?

In less than a year huh? well I wounder if the discontinuation is due to pour sales!

FoulPhil ..was that 400. or 4000. that you had seen the Gibson robot guitar for sale on c-list?

I'm sure. Their new version, The 'Dusk Tiger' is a little over 4 grand.
It looks like it's sort of a re-launch of the robot git and they wouldn't need to re-launch it if it was doing well.
It just seems dumb to most people to add a thousand or two to a git to accomplish what a tuning gear and a 15 dollar tuner can do.

The guy removed it from his Gibson. He was just selling the robot system, not the guitar LOL

I'm sure it's covered by some kind of warranty. Even if you have to replace the robot system when it breaks, if they start making it more affordable it won't be much of a problem. I can see it being very useful. You can tune up and down with the spin of a dial and you're in tune and ready to rock. I kind of want one now LOL. If they make the robot system more affordable and easy to install then I would consider buying one.

yeah, lol. I would want to really test it out before buying something like that...

I'm not a LP man but putting shit like that on one only cheapens it. What a stupid idea. If you have money to buy an LP then you should know how to set it up and keep it in tune. Stupid.
