Gibson "Melody Maker"

Around 5 years ago Guitar Center was selling the Gibson "Melody Maker" (single pickup, tone and volume control) brand new for $299.00. Damn! I knew I shouldda grabbed one at that price. Does Gibson still make them? If so, how much are they going for now?

Gruhn's in Nashville has an older one for $550. It's not as good a deal as you found earlier, but it beats $2000+.

My dad bought my first electric for me in '64, a late 50's Melody Maker for about $60 out of the classifieds.
$2300? sigh....
I get a similar feeling about the dot neck 335 my friend Robert had, or the L5 my brother had or... sigh...
