Looks cool! And hey, from the model number it must be 4 better that a good old 335!!!!!! Not sure about the skinny neck, so I would definitely try before I buy.

I played one of the prototypes with the 59 neck. It's not your typical 59 reissue neck though. It gets thicker as you go further up the neck toward the body. It's damn nice. It's been extremely tempting for me.

The problem with these guitars is that only the big mail order chains have them. No stores actually have them in stock. I guess even guitar center has to special order them.

Thanks guys. I am really tempted. As for the neck thickness, both my LP's have the slimmer 60's neck. My L6S necks are even thinner yet. They seem to be much easier on my carpal tunnel and aging, tired hands.

Why an ES339? If I'm going to drop that kind of scratch on any electric guitar, solid or hollow bodied, I want to hear it and play it first. You might do better visiting your nearest Gibson dealer, and playing the ES selections they have. I'm not saying you should "settle" for anything less than a Gibson ES339; I'm saying you shouldn't settle for anything less than a great looking, excellent sounding, excellent playing Gibson ES model.

Well, I've played quite a few ES models over the years and have been impressed by them all. I do find the 330,335,355 bodies a little cumbersome for my tastes. I think it is the years of playing the smaller LP and L6S bodies that make me feel that way. One thing that really impresses me about the 339 besides the smaller body size, is the $1799 price tag on a custom shop instrument. I don't believe that the price will last if the guitar catches on. I just wish I could play one in through my live rig before committing.

I heard that the lack of access to these guitars is really pissing a lot of people off.

It's a special run for the big retailers, so I don't imagine they'll be in the small stores any time soon.

The only thing you can really do is have them send you one and if you're not into it you can send it back and only be out the shipping. Your best bet might be with http://www.guitarsale.com which is part of music123, but is geared more towards higher end gear. The salesmen can/will get pretty hands on for you.
