I am browsing through a music magazine, and come across The Les Paul Studio, it has mahogany body, carved maple top, trap inlays for $1199. Then I turn the page To find the Les Paul Standard which has all the same stuff the studio has but with a figured maple top, and it is $2199.
Now that is quite a mark up, and it is prettier, but a grand's worth?

Now I look over to the Les Paul Supreme and it is $2799, but if you get it with a figured maple top it is $2999. That's only $200 more. I don't get it.

Standard give you a figured maple top, neck and body binding, and a choice of neck carves.

Worth it to you? Only you can say.

Well, it's a big mark up, but not TOO outragous, when you remember that a Les Paul top is quite thick.

But it is certainly more than I charge for a fancy maple top.
