Anyone know anything about this? Ive got some "old vinyl/vinyl only" releases. Also some tape stuff. I want to transfer it to cd format with minimal sound quality loss. I have a computer with a burner and a soundblaster audigy soundcard(next step up from soundblaster live). I will be buying a technics turntable (1200), and am thinking about getting a better soundcard if this is neccesary. I understand I also need something to hook the turntable upto before going into my computer, right now I have an onkyo stereo reciever/amplifier, not sure if this will do the trick. Also, I have heard of software that can improve vinyl and tape signals. I want the best quality transfer from vinyl/tape to cd as possible. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Peace

I believe Terratec makes a card with special "phono jacks" for plugging turntables into your puter.

audigy (?) would probably suffice. heres' what i do...

plug your record player into your home stereo amplifier's phono inputs. if your amplifier has rca TAPE OUTS, then run those into your computer's input. you might need a nice stereo adapter plugging into your computer. try plugging it into both the mic and the line in inputs. play with the volume on your amplifier and on your computer until it's just right... you don't want it too quiet, and you don't want it distorting.

good luck
