How do I get a tube sound without miking

I am trying to get a tube sound into ProTools MBox without miking an amp. I live in a small apartment, so miking is out. I also don't 100% like the Line6 sounds, so I was hoping to somehow go direct from a tube amp head or use a tube preamp, like a dbx 387, and then alter the sound with something like a Pod or Amplitube. Ideally I would like to somehow get the tube sound and then just add things like reverb without having to rely on digital modeling. Does anyone have any experience doing this? Also, would something like the Mesa Boogie Triaxis or Rec Pro be best? Can I just go from an amp head's speaker outs through a direct box and into the MBox?
Thanks

If you do you will fry your direct box and anything else in its path. DO NOT hook up the speaker outs into your direct box!
You'd be better off pissing off the neighbors than doing that.

You got 2 choices, either go from the pre-amp outs or mic.
I'd rather mic even if its at a low level.

I've read several articles about building an isolation box for an amplifier and am anxious to try it out. All you need is some plywood and sound proofing material.

Mesa Boogie Recording Amp. Made for direct recording and it has tubes. I think it's about $1000. I really don't know much about it but just taking a look at it gave me bad gear lust.
