Getting the most out of an MP

I have an ART Tube MP.

Does anyone have any suggested settings to try with this or do I just need to crank the input until it clips and then back it off slightly?

Thanks.

First of all, if your MP sounds really hollow then consider changing the tube. The MP is really a solid state pre with tube effect, but the tube itself still seems to make quite a difference. I replaced mine with a groove tubes 12AX7 and a lot of the ugly problems I had with it disappeard.

Anways, I've always found that the MP sounds really crappy if the input is cranked over say 60%. I usually set the input at around 50% and then adjust output gain as necessary. It kind of depends on what you're going for though.
