hello there, newbie on the horizon....
anyway, as i'm sure you guys know getting started in the whole recording thing has proven itself a daunting task. i'm fourteen so i'm not exactly rolling in the dough, but i'm working my way around it.
i plan on bying a used computer, (i found one that doubles all the reguirements on the sight but i can still afford) and basing my studio in my room around that main computer. I'm in the process of ordering a shure 58 mic, and i already have n-track, and fruityloops 3.5.
my questions are basically, what else do i need? i'm not sure if i should by a mixer board (i heard they are a "must", and are hlepful w/ mics since each channel has its own preamp, but i doubt i'll use more than one mic). i'm also a little worried about finding some cheap speakers/monitors (is there a difference?) that aren't complete crap. i am also considering bying mixman studios softwear and that dm2 thing, but i'm not sure if it would be too useful(the demo is a bunch of fun though). I know i need a microphone stand and some headphones. am i missing anything?
one big point of confusion for me comes from plugging things into my computer. will i need an audio interface? i heard that the usb port is the best place to plug in guitars and mics and such. and i'm still not completely sure if i can master on my computer or not.
well, thanks to anyone who responds, i hope my pheudo-technical terms don't make anyone cringe at their misusage.
