getting started with cubase le 4

I just bought a tascam us-1641 that came with cubase le 4
ive had a lot of problems with it, ive already upgraded
to the 4.1.2 ,
my recordings now go like this, I set up my tracks to record
and they will sometimes start recording and sometimes freak
out down the timeline some where, but if it does record
for a minute or so it LOCKS up, crash crash crash
it will say sometimes after lock up (not responding)
and sometimes it pops up (error, a serious problem has occurred....etc.)
ive tried latency setting up and down, and all kinds of other
suggestings people give me, if someone out there has
resolved any issues like this, please help, if you need more
details just ask..........

number of tracks playing and recording ?

is the usb port on your puter usb2 compiant (not an old machine only usb1)

Honestly. It sounds like a conflict between cubase and something else. Might want to try another program and see if you have teh same problem.
