Hi everyone. I'm new here and hoping someone can help me. Everytime I try to record with Cool Edit Pro I get a message saying "Make sure that no tracks are using any devices that are in use even if no wave blocks are in those tracks." Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

It's in the troubleshooting section in the manual.

Don't know about the manual, but I get that error message if I try to run Cool Edit and Fruity Loops at the same time. In other words, the message is accurate, cuz I'm trying to run two applications which are both using the same tracks, which are both using the same soundcard etc. Pain in the bum.

Fruity loops is locking the files during playback. You'll want to enable Audition as a ReWire host and then launch Fruity Loops from within Audition. (I'm not sure if Loops is ReWire compatible).

You can then use the summed output from Loops into 1 stereo track or break the channels into individual tracks. All of these settings are under the Options - Device Setup - ReWire tab.

If this works, I'm going to search you out and buy you a beer, followed by four more beers in quick succession. You have no idea what a headache this has been for me. If I get these two programs talking to each other sweetly, my life will take one giant step up the home recording ladder.
