Hey Mitch,
Add another dot in that URL and it will be okay.

Wow! I loved this tune! It almost made me go to sleep, but that is not a bad thing (I only slept a couple of hours last night) but that tune just soothed the hell out of me! Which is also good because in addition to being tired, I have been stressed out. Wow!
I actually felt way better after hearing this tune. Great work. The only suggestion I would have, and it may not be possible depending on your drum machine (that was a drum machine, right?) If it has a "swing" feature like the Boss DR-770, you can make the drums sound a little more human by throwing the timing off just a hair. Makes the "perfect" timing of the machine sound more like a real drummer. But even still, the tune works. I am gonna take the time to D/L your other stuff over the weekend. Right now I have to start a caffiene IV for myself so I don't die on the way home.

Great stuff!
Brad

Love that slide work...would have liked to hear the non-slide guitar on the right come up a bit as more of a counterpoint, but that's just my too sense....gibs

Cool tune. I don't know if it's just me, but I'm getting really subtle clicking noises. Other then that, great production!

That slide captures a very "liquid" feel.
Floyd cum Harrison.
I think the drum track could be improved merely by throwing in an overlay that added different, more dense licks in a few places throughout the tune. Like you did once near the very end.

Thanks for the compliments. I agree, making canned drums sound real is a problem, more so on this tune probably because the bell cymbal on the upbeats tends to stand out. The "swing" feature was only on 50%.If I turn it up much more the beat goes spazz. I'll try programming the pattern with the swing feature cranked from the get go. Is get go a word? I've tried programing whole drum tracks on the machines(a Boss 770 and an Alesis sr-16)and tweaking the tempo slightly at different places like you would normally playing live without thinking about it but when I go to add tracks I lose the thread I had going on in the original program because I make all this up as I go along in the classic undiciplined musician style. The solution would be to get a drummer and save alot of time but the neighbors would freak and my place is too small. Adding extra fills works sometimes. I would have mixed that track louder but I was worried about having too much going at once since I was mixing 5 guitars,2 keyboards, bass, drums and the police scanner(which may account for the clicking noises)from 16 to 2 on an 8 track. Anybody got any suggestions on humanizing drum machines?

Another thumbs up on the slide work. Some of the tones you had going on reminded me of Sonny Landreth.

As for humanizing drum machines, I've found that varying the volume and timing just a little by hand (rather than just "swing" functions) can really help a lot... if you can do that. It can really help on those 8th or 16th hi-hat patterns that tend to bluntly announce the drum-machine's presence. Just a little quieter here, and maybe a touch late there... you know... like a real drummer ;) (which would be the best suggestion, BTW).

Lots of things can be percussion instruments with some verb and EQ. If you can hit it, stick a mic on it. Check out Fruity Loops, too.

I am sooooo mellowed out by this tune...
This is great, Mitch. I'm going to have to check out your other stuff.

I'm still listening to it... got to the end... Dude, that was great. I was going to say that I thought the level on the drum track could come up a tad, but nevermind, I think if it came up anymore than it is, it would step on that funky, little, dream flow that you have going on that's got me in a sleepy stupor... I loved it.

Yeah man ... this is great. Very mellow, but still captures your attention.
Excellent slide work. I really like the vibrato effect on the rhythm guitar .. very tasty. Cool ending! :)
I only have 2 nitpicks on this tune: 1) the beginning ... sounds like it cut off the first chord? what's up with that? and 2) I'm listening in headphones and the hard L/R pan of the rhythm guitar and synth seems too extreme. Probably is cooler sounding through loudspeakers, but I can't play them this late.
Cool tune overall ... I'm gonna go get some more :)

Mr. Kahuna.
I had'nt noticed how lame the very begining of this song was until you pointed it out. I was using the trigger feature on the recorder and just left it without thinking about it. An edited version was uploaded today. And yes the panning is a bit extreme so along with some of these other suggestions I'll re-mix sometime in the future. M.M.
