Getting gliches,pops,dropouts

I am new to recording. I've used Cakewalk 8 and 9 and just recently got Sonar 2.0 XL. In the past I mainly used Cakewalk to make and play midis. I have a celeron 533, 128mgs of RAM, and a Yamaha Waveforce 192XG soundcard.

When I record an audio track (ie. play guitar) using Sonar I get get gliches, pops and stopping of the recording process. Sometimes a red indicator "dropout" is displayed. This is also evident during playback. I uninstalled Sonar and reinstalled CW9, the problem is not happening as often but it does happen at times. Is this a hardware requirement problem? I really want to go back to Sonar so I can mix down and create a wave.

Try to rise your latency, Options -> Audio -> "the latency slider".

Or use MME-drivers. Options -> Audio -> Advanced -> Tick the "Always use MME-drivers, even..."-checkbox.

I've heard alot of people talking about bad performance of using Celeron. If you have any chance, try use the original Pentium... not Celeron.
