getting frustrated

what would you recomend for recording software then? all i primarily do is vocals. also for a condenser mic would you recomend a stand alone studio projects b1 or something like a shure sm87 handheld? i like to hold my mic when i sing to get into it more, but will definitely go for a stand alone one if they offer significant quality improvements.

note- i dont have a prostudio setup, my recording setup is setup in a medium sized basic untreated room

just as a side question... what would be the recomended mic placement for vocals on an sm58 for recording?

I tried this while my condenser mic was on its way and i found that you need to put the mic on a stand, stand about 6-10 inches away and definitely use a wind screen if possible in any way. pops are way too noisy when recording w/ an sm 58
