Getting a mixer

2 things have happened to me recently:

1. I've aquired the use of a Revox B77 reel-to-reel.

2. I've been partly swayed by all these arguments over the benefits of analogue mixing/summing.

So I figure I'd like to get a mixer and try mixing some things down onto the B77. My 1820m has 8 outputs, normally grouped in 4 stereo pairs, so I could group my mixes as 4 stereo sub-busses (eg Guitars, Bass, Drums, Vox) and then send them into a mixer. I can't afford lots of expensive outboard gear so I'd still be using plug-ins for now, so it wouldn't be true analogue mixing, but I'm hoping there will be some benefit to the overall quality and maybe the Revox will help to impart some of the much coveted analogue 'warmth'.

So I need to know 2 things:

1. Is this a sensible idea?

2. What's a decent mixer for me (one with 4 stereo channels)? I'd like to spend as little as possible though I don't mind stretching my budget if I end up with a decent bit of kit that I could use in other situations. £300ish would be my limit.
