I do hip-hop and Ive been using the computer based samplers forever (i think). So I wanna change my ways. I dont want to save up any more but i dont know if it would be worth it.

So which one should I get?
EMU MP-7....................699.99
AKAI MPC-2000.........1599.99

The MPC is a very good piece to start of with but I have never used a EMU MP-7. The MP-7 is not a sampler so you will kinda be stuck with whatever you have on board. The MPC is a kinda limited sampler but being able to choose your own sounds and have a library of sounds that will grow as you grow is just the shit.

Do a search of the hip hop board cuz i'm sure the MPC has been discuss there quite a bit.

p.s I can get you a use stock MPC for half that price you listed if you are really thinking of buying one. PM me if you are interested...

Get the MPC........ Once you master theat unit and get some good sounds your set..... The MP7 is just a module with triggers.... It does have some expandability but I have had close friends who got bored of it very quickly.

All the Emu stuff is sample based anyhowz ( correct me if i'm wrong), and to get the amount of sounds they use out of 30meg theres some serious data compression. On some of the stuff they get away with it, but the mo-phat isn't one.

Go MPC!

I just bought an XL-7, because I wanted to make some cool techno songs. I'm currently buried in the 300 page manual right now. I got it for 500 bucks through Musician's Friend, though. Good deal.
