With that last sentence you said a mouthful....Im not saying you have a bad card....I just think the Delta has better converters, and 24 bit vs. 16 bit is alot in my book, especially since my recording abilities at this point sucks, and i need all the help i can get....

Peace my brutha......

Gotta get one!!!!!!

Congratulate yourselves... you've convinced me to move on from my SBlive, it has done me well, and for those of you who havent heard my last tune recorded on it check it out

I know shamless plug... :-)

All though It will stick around for my drum samples... Delta 66 here I come. Next paycheck...its mine. In fact I've got a new project on hold till I get it. Originals this time boys..and a chick singer too....

I think Ill check guitar center before resorting to online.. Anyone know if they will match outpost.com?

bassman -

I would be interested to see if Guitar Center will match outpost.com or not - could you post results of you attempt (if that's what you're going to do?) as I've also recently decided to upgrade from my SBLive! to the Delta 44.

Here's their price-matching policy: "You're guaranteed the lowest price from Guitar Center. Period. If at any time within 30 days of your purchase from us, you find the identical item in stock and advertised by an authorized dealer at a price lower than what you paid, Guitar Center will fully protect you. Just bring in the ad ÷ even if it's our own ÷ along with your original Guitar Center receipt, and we'll gladly refund the difference"

now the question - is outpost.com an authorized dealer?? I can't see Guitar Center turning you down. In fact the last time that I had them beat a price they beat it by an extra $5 - which I'm sure they are told to do to bring back business.

thanks
pratt

I had them match a price for me at Guitar Center before from an internet store...they just had me bring in a printout from the site....

I called them, and the sales guy said they would. They have a special right now that bundles a 66 with a Omni mic Pre-amp. not sure of the brand. It is a 2 channel pre and looks as if it has Headphone outs on it too. I have an ART Tube MP, and a nice 4 way headphone disribution amp. So I don't think I need it. Funny thing is, they are practically giving it away. Price for the bundle is $399, which is what they are selling the 66 for. Think this pre is worth looking into? I told the sales guy Outpost.com has it for $319. He said come in and they will see what they can do.

Hi there guys!

I'm very much convinced that SB live is a good card, but, I already have a Yamaha DSP factory card. I would like to know if any of you guys used them together in a single PC and if these two wouldn't have any problems. I still want to keep my DSP factory because I like this card very much, and, would want to get a SBlive to be able to do so som MIDI Stuffs.

Thanks

Anjo

Hello....

Well the deed is done, I purchased a Delta 66 With the Omni I/O ... At a killer price, $399 Which if you go by Outposts price, gave me 2 high quality Preamps for 80 bucks.. And Let me say it is very cool... For the home recorder that does not need a lot of inputs(to say Mic a drum kit), You could use this and never need a mixer. Also after reading the review from the post about(thanks by the way) It seems the reviewer prefered the pre amps the highley acclaimed XDR Mackie Pre's... I have a project in the works... Will post when complete...

Later....

Its true I am afraid, the weak "Sound Recorder" software that comes with Windows will only do up to 1 minute of audio. It is only intended to be used to record short sound effects that you can use for Windows Events, like a new sound effect for Windows Shutdown.

There are several free programs out there you can download that can do your recording for you. Search this web site for references.

If you can find about $50 you can buy the "Lite" version of the program called Sound Forge. I use its much more expensive "big brother" the Pro version and like it a lot. I think most folks on this board do.

DOAH! Just now realized there was a second page, I was answering Frank from 3/3/01. I am an idiot....

I'm shopping for a sound card for my B&W G3 and it's is narrowed to 3 choices. Core 2 (which I'm moving away from because I don't see any Mac feedback), Delta 44, Delta 66. What is the advantage of S/PDIF which seems like the only diff btwn the 44 and 66.
Thanks Toni

If you have any gear that has S/PDIF, it will allow you to transfer sound betwwen the two digitally without going thru an analog/digital conversion and back....anytime you can keep a signal digital it is better...if you dont have equipment that has S/PDIF, go with the 44.....the Core 2 has had some serious problems in the past, but Im hearing now that alot of the issues (drivers, converters) have been resolved.....

outpost.com deal no more

For all those who didn't jump on the outpost.com $199 Delta 44 deal - it looks like it's over - the Delta 44 is now listing for $269 at outpost.com

I got Guitar Center to match the outpost price last week...they told me that $199 was their cost - but they had to match since it was their policy!

thanks slackmaster for the great deal heads-up!

Luckly I i printed out the outpost.com delta 44 when it was 199.99, so i guess guitar center will still match it, they won't actaully go online and check will they?

Anyone who knows HTML could rig up a page with a fake price and then print it out... so I'd hope they would check it.

Damn, I might just try that........ Zzounds.com selling a MOTU for $.99! Damn, that would be cool.

Jake

yea i ditched my old SB Crap! that i used for mixdown from my reel to reel to the delta 1010 and dumped my analog tracks into the delta. SB sucks really hardcore... and someone bought it for $140 from me :)

anyone know how much guitar center charges for the delta 44? (normally)

I think that GCs Delta44 price was right around the $269 that outpost.com is now charging. Still cheaper to by from outpost.com since they have free shipping and it's tax free. I just like having the thing in my hands (instant gratification) plus I don't trust UPS much anymore. My UPS delivery guy seems to think that tossing packages onto my porch is proper delivery!!

Guitar Center DID NOT check the web site either!! they looked at my print-out, grumbled and groaned a bit about the low cost, and sold it to me for $199. They did get the manager, though - because the price was so low.

That makes me thnk about how much I HATE Guitar Center and how much fun I'd have making them match prices at really low costs from online dealers. I know HTML........
