Crawdad, I think I heard a tele in there?

Nice job, you are really talented.

More Crawmackdaddy excellence! Now post the entire tune of each with you singing away!

You guys definetely need to check out Al's stuff! He kicks ass!

Crawdad, EXCELLENT!
Cool sounds, and the funny thing is, when I was listening to the "Genesis mix", I thought during the 2nd mix part (the country licks), 'hey this sounds cool, he'd probably nail a Knopfler-tone as well', and then comes in "Sultans of Swing" :)
I guess another example of "great minds think alike"... ;)

Anyway, I will soon update my Genesis samples, the nasty distortion that is found in some, is mainly due to my inexperience of converting wavs to mp3. But I stand by the fact that my JCM800 and Speedy Ray clips still sound awesome...

I may combine the Genesis 3 sounds with recording my amp with some of my (new) mics: I had a SM57 for a year or 2, but now I also own a SP C1, a SP B3 and a Sennheiser MD421 (since 4 days)...
Then I can make it a 'contest', guess which is which! ;)

Crawdad. That's some nice playing. I appreciate you taking the time to post those samples. I think all of your clean sounds were excellent, but I didn't dig the distortion sound on the first sample (is that "smooth?") or the last song ("don't know why I go to extremes?").

So yeah as far as experience on gear I am very experienced and I'm telling you the Genesis 3 is a more versatile tool than the POD. And yes, I have heard the POD XT and it is better than the POD but not as versatile as the G3 in the studio and it still has a cheesy sounding distortion.
I didn't ask about your experience, or insinuate anything about it. I could care less whether you are a 13 year old kid or Steve Vai. You are not the final word on tone, tone is SUBJECTIVE.

I am plenty experienced myself, and all of my experience doesn't matter a damn thing if the tones suck. How you can say that the Genesis3 distortion is not buzzy or harsh, even after hearing all of these samples, is beyond me.

Anyway, I'm off to guitar center to check it out for myself.

Now that I can go with. No harm done. Check it out and let us know what you think. Hey if you love it, that's all that matters.

Nice playing and good tones Crawdad.

Can't wait to hear your updated clips Speed.

What I love are the clean tones. Couldn't get this stuff out of anything else. As for the dirty stuff, I hear ya. I am still working on those (only had this two weeks) and I've had one programming session. Let's continue to compare as we get cool stuff. I'm not crazy about heavy distortion as I don't use it too much. Your needs seem totally oposite of mine. I wasn't nuts about the xt samples either--not that they were bad, but I don't hear the 'mic on the amp in the room' sound yet there.

If it IS there, I'm sure we'll all find it in time! :D

Sounds great for mp3, I will have to try one myself, although I am trying to wait until another 2 or 3 generations of these things have been released. I have a Digitech RP2000 that I bought a couple years ago, I think its models blow away POD and the effects are way better, too, so I assume that their next generation Genesis devices would be even better, and at $200 would seem to be a good value vs.. the $400 for the POD XT. I just have been very unimpressed with Line 6 products. I have a borrowed Flextione II with floorboard next to me right now (s'posed to be same innards as POD) and was trying to get some decent sounds out of it - what a piece of $1000.00 crap! the absolute worst reverb I have ever heard, the models are either shrill and harsh or muddy or a combination of the 2 ! Digitech has been releasing a lot of new products over the last couple years, I wonder if the Genisis 3 lowered price might be because a new model is due out soon...

Oh yeah! Its a 70 Tele--maple neck, ash body, with Joe Barden's.

Which got me thinking too. I haven't tried this Genesis with humbuckers for the overdrive patches yet. That is something I definitely need to try. Typically, that yeilds better mondo tones!

Speeddemon--thats funny about the Dire Straits thing! Thanks for the compliments too! I think there is a lot of untapped potential in this modeler--actually in all of them, come to think of it. I think there are certain things about each of them that are decent. Trying to argue which is best is kind of like comparing a Strat with a Les Paul.

Charger--did you get to demo the Genesis? If so, what did you think? I'd be REAL curious to see what the clean and crunch tones are like on the XT. See, its my mission to buy every freakin' modeler box that exists before I die!
