Hey!

I really dig that my Tascam 388's mixer section has three band sweep EQ on each of its eight channels, but I've noticed that the majority of modern budget mixer tend to have only sweepable mids, with the high and low bands being fixed (usually at 12K and 80hz).

So, what I'd like to know is how far up the price scale do I have to go to find a mixer (new or used) with: (a) at least eight channels, (b) at least three bands of sweepable EQ on each channel and (c) a minimum of two busses?

That's nice Scott but those EQ controls look pretty fixed band to me.

Next.

:) The larger mackies, behringers have more than one sweepable EQ on each channel.

The larger ones are a little too big. I'm looking for something I can use as a submixer (mainly for drums). So, let me rephrase the question.

What I want is:

At least eight mic/line channels with decent preamps in each, plus three band (low, mid and high) sweep/parametric eq on each channel. Oh. And phantom power too!

I don't think that's too much to ask for.

I don't think anything like that exists with the current models. Your best bet would be to build up a small system using some pres and EQ modules. Check out the Speck EQ's. They have a good rep and aren't outrageously expensive. You could also make an API lunchbox with a few pres and EQs.

How about an Allen-Heath WZ16:2DX ?
It has more EQ than most compact mixers.

API lunchboxes? Oh, I wish I had the cash
for a setup like that. I love the API sound.
But they look like a solid $1000 per channel
after you get the box and powersupply...

That's what I suspected. What about older models? What should I look out for?

Hey Fishtop

I took a look at the AH website. The WZ range does look pretty interesting. I might get the 12.
