Hi,
I currently use a pair of Genelec 6010a's to mix on but have been toying with the idea of upgrading to 8020/8030s, mainly for the extended low-end response.
I'm happy with the 6010's and know them well, but the low-end in my mixes is sometimes inconsistent.. I mainly make bass heavy electronic music so the sub frequencies are essential to my mix.
I know that its not all about size and power when it comes to monitors (especially as I mix in a small room) but are the physical limitations of the 6010s going to hinder me? According to the specs, they are only capable of going down to 73 Hz - would the extra 20 Hz of depth from the 8030 be a bonus to me or would it be nominal? Would I be better with a dedicated sub?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
