1. Behringer FCB1010 MIDI Foot Controller ($130) - Does this unit work well with POD 2 ??

2. dbx 266XL Compressor/Gate ($150) vs. PreSonus Blue Max Compressor ($150) vs. Alesis 3630 Dual-Channel Compressor/Limiter with Gate ($100) --- What would be your pick & why ??

3. BBE 362NR Sonic Maximizer ($220) -- Is this really neccessary ?? Does it really improve your sound as advertised ??

4. dbx ProVocal™ Vocal Strip ($300); Digitech® Vocalist Performer ....others -- Any thoughts ??

5. Can a compact Mackie mixer (such as CFX series) drive the Beyer's DT-770 headphones ??

2. i have a couple of dbx 266xl's and they rule. They're prolly better than the presonus, and the alesis is a piece of crap. You can have mine for 50 bucks if you want.

1: I swear by the ART ultrafoot. It can really simplify any midi unit.

2:I got a presonus to replace my lame Alesis. The Alesis always sounded like I was singing thru a wall no matter what.

3: I dont think you need it if you have a decent preamp.

4: most vocal harmonizors will drive you insane if you dont have a PhD in midi. I vote you just fatten the vocals with standard effects and record multiple tracks if you want harmony.

Just for the record I have a Mackie CFX mixer and I love it.
The big suprise.....the effects are great.

1. Regarding the compressors: I've also "heard" a lot of people in this forum raving about the RNC unit (about $175)... I think I'll forget about the Alexis though !! ..Thanks

2. I'm a soloist and home recording as a hobby right now, that's why I'm interested in those harmonizers/vocal channels ...as an extra helps !! ...Eventhough it's fun but after singing 2 harmony versions ..my voice doesn't want to cooperate very well
