The mics are great but I think there's some general consensus on what application are more suitable for each of those mics. These are what I have and I'm going to 'test run' them but I can't afford to compare all possible combinations. I wonder if the users agree:

ACM-1200:
vocal
acoustic
room

ACM-3:
electric
acoustic

ACM-310:
acoustic
overhead

ACM-6802T:
???

I really have no sense on what the 6802T is good for.

erniebb...

I don't have a 1200.

I like the ACM-3 on electric guitar cabs and brass[y] or woodwind instruments, but not really on acoustic.

I like the ACM-310 on acoustic strings, but it's so high output that I rarely use in on guitar - uke, yes! For drum overheads, I think you'd be looking at massive padding

6802T = vocals. Mine's been heavily modified, but I liked it before that, too.

Thanks antichef... I heard that people uses 310 without a pre - is that a 'normal' practice (I don't understand what that means to the sound characteristics)? Or like you said, using pre but with "a few" in-line pad...? Seriously acoustic guitar is not that loud -> the mic output is still too hot?

Seems like ACM-3 is mostly good for cabs....

I started using my 310 without a preamp before I read about it here -- literally going into a "line-in" on my interface. This is because the output from the 310 on all but the quietest sources was redlining/overloading/clipping my preamp all the time -- nothing to do with the quality of the sound itself, which is nice and full, in my opinion, just the *amount* of it. I never clipped my line in, but I bet I could do it with a loud source, believe it or not.

What he said.

And what you said on the 1200.
