I'm trying to figure out how to eliminate bleed from my headphones when tracking vocals... anyone know how to do this?

It helps to have headphones with good isolation. What kind of cans are you using?

some cheap wal-mart headphones right now until i can get some HD280's... isnt there some way other than just the headphones im using though? gating or expanding or something?

I would just edit the vocals tightly to kill the track when the vocal is out . . . that's a lot more accurate than any gate. During the vocal there is nothing you can do about bleed, just gotta keep those phones as quiet as you can.
A little bleed shouldn't be a big problem anyway.
