gates in sonar!

Does anyone know any techniques or plug-ins for gating in sonar? I'm into producing dance/trance music and need to get a good volume or filter gate going on some pad sounds. The only way i could think to do it would be to zoom way in on the automation window and draw the volume at 60db every 8th or 16th note, then at 5db every other one.

now seeing that sonar can't quantize automation, this can be a very sloppy and tedious way of achieving this.

any help would be great. thanks!
 
Yeah, I got the same question. Help please. I'm needing to gate my drum tracks that are recorded on several mics in Sonar and have not found a suitable way to do this yet. I also use Cool Edit Pro, maybe this can help?:confused:
 
there are some audio gate plug-ins for sonar...see the plug-ins section of www.cakewalk.com for those...but i was looking for a midi gate effect.

anyone?

Is it only on the XL verion of Sonar that you get the expander/gate FX plug in? Too bad..

Thanks roots, I'll ask my keyboard player if he knows anything about a midi gate effect (he's the midi guy in the band :D )
 
i've never heard of a midi GATE parameter, but you can change the attack and release midi controllers.
