Garageband Mixing and Mastering Question: Please help!!

audio interface inputs - Anything going into your computer ie your guitar vocals etc and all can be sent to different channels
audio interface outputs - Anything coming out of your DAW again you can set what comes and goes where use 2 for your main mix and any extra for other things you wanna mix in seperately (ie use extra processors on)
mixer - mixes signals to stereo some mixers also have direct out which means you get to take chanels from your mixer and put them into your interface inputs
 
Hey there. I have an Alesis Multimix 12. It is FIREWIRE and can record 8 (maybe more) tracks simultaneously. It is an interface and mixer combined. I love it and have recorded tons with it. That may be the best route for you.

To record multiple tracks in GB you have to go to the TRACK menu bar and click "enable multitrack recording" (assuming you can run multiple tracks to your computer)
