The drone string is what makes the song for me as well. I'm a sucker for drones and such.

Ok, had a listen on a good system and cranked it.
The low end 'rumble', 'drone', or whatever else you want to call it, makes the song. It builds tension, it lets you know something is about to happen. Something big is coming.

I dont think anyone is going for sterile, clinical perfect, Rhianna tracks here. At least, I dont think so. Hell, maybe that's what some of you are going for. I dunno.
But this is real live music. Not some programed dance shit.

That producer/mix engineer Manny Marroquin said in a clinic. "Allways go for an exciting mix over a perfect mix".

I agree.
Good job Bubba.
:thumbs up:

Many thanks. :D This song is all about the energy, and the buildup and release of the tension, as you correctly identified. Also the mix is meant to try to convey the feel of their live performance without it actually being live. One thing I can't replicate is the absolute testicle-rattling power of the bass at the end of each chorus line that they used to get live. Can't be done via this medium.

I also love the drone string in the bass. It was a big punk/alternative genre cue in the period between the latest 70s (starting with Joy Division and the Banshees) and the early 90s. Either you "get" the exciting sound, or you don't, it seems.

Hey bubba, been looking forward to hearing this with yer man's vocals and guitar solo. Sounds really great and I'm glad he went with his own accent rather than the strange, almost transatlantic one on the demo. Makes the whole song sound much more authentic & i love that "I want you game over. You. Kill. Me" part. Cool twin solo too

No setup currently, so on headphones but everything seems well balanced as far as I can tell & more importantly you captured the energy and spirit of the original. Good work!
