Well.... I feel kinda stupid right now. Does the 424 have built a build in midi processor??? or do I need to get another card so I can listen to my midi stuff.... I don't wanna do anything special with it... or am I just not configuring something right???

It's got a MIDI port connection . . meaning it can send and receive MIDI . . but, it has no SYNTH . . It can't play MIDI unless you have an external SYNTH connected. Example :
I have the Gadget 824 and use it's MIDI port to control my POD. For playing MIDI Synth, I have a TB Pinnacle with a YAMAHA DB50XG Daughterboard.

I'm using a $55 SBLive Value for MIDI, and it ain't bad.

I am thinking about the 496. I hope they don´t take so long.

I like the 1/3 rack space for the i/o.
I´m very shure it´s gonna be an exellent sound card running in my AMD K6-2.

so, go for it...
