...
this is a long shot guys, but i have a 2003 g5 powermac dual processor...

the power supply has blown and i want to sell of the internal components (cpus, logic board etc),

i want to be sure that all the parts are working first but was shocked to find out how much a psu is for one of these bad boys.....

is there any chance anyone has a spare on to lend me? postage would obviously be at my expense, and i'd pay an amount for the favour.

i'm a verified ebay/paypal user in the UK...

also, the required psu has three connectors,,,,,,and 8pin,16pin and 24pin.

thanks in advance guys!!!

A G5 PSU costs between $130 and $200 U.S., depending on the model. It's also an unholy pain in the backside to install. Been there, watched someone do that a few years back.... I wish I had a spare lying around, but the only PSUs I have are in machines, and I'm pretty sure the machine wouldn't survive me trying to remove one.... :D

If you are feeling adventurous and aren't using an Apple display powered by the ADC connector:

With the caveat that it only runs the machine for about half a minute until the computer realizes the power supply fans aren't spinning and shuts off the power. :D

Just to be clear, I do not recommend doing that....

haha,,been there and contemplated that!!!
thanks for the info tho.....

you're right it's a pain in the ass!!

i borrowed a g5 from a friend...luck was on my side as it 'needed repairing' anyways,,,but after the whole balls up of removing the psu, i found it was the wrong one!!

if anyone feels so generous as to dismantle their mac for me,,,,,i don't recommend it!!!

One way is to sell the parts as untested and offer a money back refund. That way the people you sell to will be testing them for you. True, you could have some goofball hook up something wrong and blow a part that's good, but that could happen anyways. Just be straight up and tell people what you stated here.

thanks for the advice moore...

i might end up having to do just that!!!

i know this maybe isn't the best place for this kinda ad; i've posted on mac forums too, but i thought i'd try here cos i've a little more rep than elsewhere....

i know ads should go in the free ads section, but while i'm here and my story's out..

one powermac g5 circa 2003 dual cpu logic board FS untested

two powermac g5 " " " " " " " 1.8ghz processors FS untested

hope that's ok..
