FX3 questions

Hi,

I tried the demo version of the Cakewalk FX3 and I am confused about the input channels.

As example:

In HomeStudio 2002, my song has 8 channels. The properties for each channel are:

input: channel 1 to 8
output: NemeSys MidiOut: Port 1 (Giga studio port) for all tracks
Channel: 1 to 8

When FX3 is loaded I see a lot of performers (11) in the Orchestra Hall Preset.

So how do we know which channel is targeted to which perfomer ?

Is FX3 a good investment to compare against accoustic mirror and other reverbs plugins ?

Yes, it's a great effect for getting a 'true' reverb. But you may still need a reverb for the 'fake' reverb sounds. I'm using the free one by Anwida, it's very good.

About your question:

You need to add the effect seperately to each track, and then choose the right performer within each added effect (hope your CPU is fast enough to handle 8x the FX3 plugin ;) )

The help file is pretty good, btw.
 
You can have 2 performance per instance if you use a stereo track.

FX3 is audio FX... and you're talking about MIDI tracks ? do I miss something here ? :confused:

My Giga output is redirect to an audio track

I use Anwida reverb, I like the ambience setup and the bright medium room.

Finally a read that The FX3 demo last 5 seconds, intense experience... but enough to play with the performer and understand it is powerfull

Working on 16 tracks for orchestral may be a lot demanding for CPU with such plugins. Does it mean the safest way would be to record each track and apply those reverb units one by one in a batch process ?

It is possible to match the audio tracks with midi channels ?

...well, I'm not so sure about your quest. However, MIDI and Audio are totally different. SONAR handles 'em different way. So MIDI channels is not an issue for audio tracks. But if you wanna route several particular audio tracks to certain FX inserted, you can use the Aux Bus... It's better way to go.

I would convert the 16 tracks to 8 stereo tracks panned hard left hard left. That way you're only running 8 instances of the fx3 and using 2 performers per instance instead of 16 tracks of 1 performer per instance. then adjust your fx3 to get a sound you like and then mix down to a final stereo orchestral mix. some group mixes... ie. violins, violas, cellos, etc. And finally, have you tried running 16 instances at once to see how the load is on your cpu? maybe yours can handle it.

btw, what orchestral samples are you using with gigastudio? i'm in the process of trying to find some without spending $1000.

Interesting Thread Jaymz. Light thoughts about pre-delay put me on a path.

JR#97 My libraries are Prosonus and Advanced Orchestra (An incredible Christmas sale at soundsonline site). AO sounds great (for what I've paid, should I say, because new libraries are far over).

Yeah, but with Aux bus you can't use the multiple performers in Soundstage...only one (or stereo)

Whoa...just checked it out. Those are some of the best reverb sounds I have been able to get on my voice. Have you tried the full demo version? Just wondering if it might be worth the purchase.

Me likes the freeby already :D
 
I did purchase it. I haven't regret it....yet.
