hello. i've searched the terrible motu manual, and i can't find anything about this...

i'd like to use outboard fx while mixing with my motu 828, but i don't really understand how it works. do i do this: analog 1 out of the motu -> lexicon reverb unit -> analog inputs 1 & 2 of the motu. then send a mono tracks output from the analog 1 output into the lexicon, and record it back into the motu on a new stereo track? does that make sense? is there a better way to do this? it seems weird to play a track out of the motu, send it out to an external effect, and then record it back into the motu on another track...wouldn't that create a latency issue? i don't know what i'm doing...

Yeah .... that's the way you would do it, though you could use any of the inputs and outputs that are available.
As far as the latency, I'm not using any external effects but I would think the MOTU and Audiodesk would maintain sync between the outputs and the inputs just as if you where doing any other overdub.
One way to find out ... try and see.
If the new track isn't in sync with the rest of the mix, you may need to adjust the track in the time-line to match up with the rest of the tracks. If Audiodesk allows you to set track offset, you may be able to use that instead of manually shifting the new track.
