FX for tracking room monitoring. (mainly verb and compression)

Welcome to the jungle.
What do you guys like to give the mix in the cans for the artist in the tracking room?
Do you think it can inspire the person performing having verb? Or can that make the performance suffer?
I know some drummers and vocalists like it.
Also, do you think a bit of compression on their mix is good? That way the dynamics aren't so huge? They'll have a better Idea of what the final outcome after mixing will be like.
 
hmmm... most I give a headphone mix is a little verb. I concentrate mostly on getting good levels in them.

I try NOT to have compression. It helps me build my Mic technique..
 
same here. i like a little reverb most of the time during tracking and the other people i've had in front a mic seem to do well with it too.
