FX Channel Defaulting To Inserts, Not Sends

Hi,

Well, this is one I never encountered. I'm trying to set up a send compressor via an effects channel. So I add the FX channel by right clicking, choosing effects channel, picking the effect I want etc. All normal, right? Well, when I choose my effect, it automatically loads into the Insert Effects. When I open up the mixer and click on the channel strip to edit my effect, the effect is loaded in the Insert channel and in the Send Column, I can't access any effects. It says:

NO BUS

Stereo
Left
Right

So does anyone have any idea why Cubase has suddenly defaulted to doing this? I can't set up my sends effect. I can't think of anything I've done that would change anything and I can't find anything online that explains this.

TIA

Not sure I understand. 'Insert' is where you setup an effect on a FX channel. You 'Send' to it from any other channel besides the FX channel.

Yeah I'm confused as well.

You take your normal tracks and send them to the fx track. The fx track runs the effect as an insert.

It won't let you do what you are trying to do because you are trying to send the output of the effects channel back to itself. Cubase will not let you create a feedback loop.

If you simply want to compress a track, just put the compressor in an insert on the track you want to compress. If you are trying to do new York compression or parallel compression, add the fx track with the compressor inserted, then use the aux send of the instrument tracks you wish to compress to send signal to the fx channel.

Hey guys - sorry to confuse. I straightened it out myself. You're confused because I WAS CONFUSED. I could take some time to explain what I was looking at and why it was throwing me off, but in this case, less is more. Thanks for trying to help though.
