My computer is custom built. Put it together on 02/04. All the hardware above has just been purchased. My recording system has been set up for not even a full week. I had issues at first with the FW 1082 working with windows 7 but thanks to the beautiful www I have found a solution to that. Everything works fine. nothing wrong with the FW 1082, 2031a monitors or computer so far as I know..
Problem
02/06.. The first time I was able to sit down and test out everything by making a beat. I was using Cubase 5 for this. 02/07.. My second attempt to make a beat after adjusting my 1394 firewire driver to leagacy mode and running the 1.70 driver for the FW -1082.. Both time I have had the same issue.. After running a few vst instruments in Cubase I have heard, on both occasions, a very irratating sound that would not stop until restarting my computer. If I had to describe the sound I would say a buzzing static.
The first time this happened my screen jumped to blue. I followed the instructions and restarted my computer which worked just fine afterwards.. I was able to pull up hulu and watch one of my favorite shows, which lasted about 43 minutes, with no problem. The second time this happened I was in the middle of listening a project that I was working on. The buzzing static sound came and then left after I turned my volume all the way down on my FW 1082, stopped the playback in Cubase and waited for about 15seconds. afterwards it started playing just fine for another five minutes and then the buzzinf static sound happened again.. I can narrow down the sound that came out of the 2031as by saying that it sounded like loud hair clippers. After the buzzing sound I turned the volume down on the FW 1082 again and turned off the control surface only for my screen to jump to the blue screen again...
I am wondering what to do next!. Any Advice on how to fix this?
Is it Cubase 5? (I haven't really tried it with FL Studio or reason because of Cubase 5 being my main work engine. I figured that if I could get ti to work properly in Cubase then FL Studio and Reason will not be a problem since those DAWs are not as 'complicated' on the processor as Cubase is)
Is it the Fw 1082 driver? (keep in mind that I have installed the 1394 legacy driver)
Is it the computer itself? (considering that the blue screen came up twice and the instructions on the blue screen stated that I may need to check all of the newly installed components to make sure they were installed correctly, YET, it works well with everything else)
or (a long shot)
Is it the 2031a monitors?
Last thing that I can say that might help you help me is that the clock indicator on the FW 1082 was flashing all through the process of this earlier today. I cannot recall if it was flashing the first time... What I do know is that the cloc indicator light on the FW 1082 is supposed to stay on and not flash.
Any tips, Advice or comments? Should I look forward to dual booting XP pro 64bit to get this setup to run as smooth as possible. Also i just purchased the Cubase 6 upgrade.. Will that help any in this issue?
