anyone???please???
Vocal chain c12 into a neve 1073 mic pre into apogee psx 100 into motu 2408 interface using digital performer. Master word clock nanosync...digital out of 2408 into another apogee converter for a d/a into console.
44.1/24bit . Audio sounds grainy, somewhat distorted at all input levels, dont seem to be distorted the mic pre. ???? Has anyone heard of this type of dilema.

You asked that same question HERE back in January.

I was looking back through your posts and I find it hard to believe that with the equipment you claim to have you're posting questions like.... "if speakers are 80 watts each, what's the total output of 2 80 watt speakers?"

I smell fish

and believe me with the gear i have its hard to believe im hearing this grainy sound.

if I was you I'd start with my monitors and work back the chain. What monitors are you using?

or are they just 80watt hifi speakers at the end of a signal chain that starts with a C12?

its sounds like you missed your calling u should have been a comedian , not a musician...then again it doesnt sound like your a musician either

Not that I have experience with that grade of gear but it sounds like you need to do some trouble shooting, replace all of the bits of your signal chain one by one and you should at least be able to find what's causing the noise. I'd start with the cables.

I assume you have a power conditioner?

The fact that it's Thanksgiving Day here in the States is keeping from replying to this thread in the way in which I'd otherwise be inclined, and I'm personally thankful for the wisdom to make that choice.

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody! :)

Wow thats quite the signal chain!!!! hard to believe that some who has put together a $25000 setup can't figure out a simple glitch????(not trying to rip on you...sorry)... However........Check all your cords first!!!....Old engineer saying: " If it's not a cord it's a cord, and if it's not that cord it's another cord, and if not that cord then it has to be the other cord"!!!! Chances are it's not the 1073, c12, apogee, or motu...but try bypassing one piece of gear at a time....try using an analogue audio mixer with headphones.......Good Luck.

Two questions:

1) what kind of cables are you using for your digital connections?
2) are you sure you're not having syncing issues between your clock, converters and the 2408?
