funk tune...mix suggestions and/or friendly comments

This is a local band, Funk Trek, playing their song "Deep Fried"

Recorded the drums, guitar, and bass live. Horns were added in later.

Hey, this is a fine recording of a very energetic performance. I thought the horns were intergrated pretty well and there is tremendous clarity throughout.

One thing that stood out to me anyway was the hi hat at least through the beginning of the piece. It really seemed a bit too forward especially for being such a crisp sound. Interestingly, after the change where it goes to the slowed down part, the HH sounded fine to me...a little more natural and farther back in the mix. I thought the crash sounded fine throughout. Anyway, a good mix overall.

The only thing (other than the previously mentioned HH) that I would like to hear, is a bit more of a stereo effected guitar.

Great mix, and the band sounds great too!

I did notice the hi hat as well, and did some volume automation on the overheads to compensate. I wish I would have miked the hi hat separately for further mixing options...whoops!
