Fun recording tricks to try...no fixes

This attempt of a thread isn't about fixing any problems, but a place to post new ideas and recording tricks that you use(d) when recording, and for people to critique your tricks and come up with even more ideas.

I'll start

1.Run a low harmony vocal double EQed out the top and ran wet only through a slightly bigger room reverb than the main VOX, and barely audible. Running the vocal through a distortion beforehand makes it even thicker(use sparingly)

Anyone else have one they'd like to share?

Yes, but the dog can add unwanted breathing noise to your recordings so I recommend killing or maiming your dog first before you ruin a take, although a strategically placed whimper can add so much.

I've tried many ways to do various instruments and vocal variations.
But, what I still prefer is to lay the tracks clean, then rework them individually or what ever.
I have better control and it's much easier for me.

Something I just learned...understand the frequency range of the instrument...you can use some analyser plugin to help you with, say, your vocal, your bass...etc.

Use a pitchshifter to get your vocal up an octave. the track will sound tretty awful with a lot of the transients lost but what i do is put it through a LONG and very WET reverb, BUT, mute the track so I can only hear reverb. MIx the reverb very carefully into your mix (since it is long it cannot be two high in the mix. It will basically sound like a very human-sounding synth following your vocal.

Sounds great.

the first and last tips are pretty cool, I might just try that. The noise to signal ratio in threads like these are funny. Funny but irritating.
